Video splitter
Cut one video into several separate files without uploading it. Split at the times you type, or into equal parts, then download the parts one by one or together as a ZIP.
Runs on your device. Your files never leave your browser.
How to use the video splitter
- 01Choose your video file, or drop it onto the box.
- 02Choose to split at times, or into equal parts.
- 03Type the times to split at, separated by commas, or set the number of parts from 2 to 20.
- 04Click Split video, then download each part or Download all (ZIP).
Splitting at times or into equal parts
At times splits the video at each time you list, separated by commas, as seconds (12.5) or minutes and seconds (1:05). Two times give three parts: from the start to the first time, between the two, and from the second time to the end. The field starts with a single split halfway through the video, and the times can be typed in any order.
Into equal parts divides the whole video into 2 to 20 parts of the same length. Either way, a split makes at most 20 parts, and each part must be at least a tenth of a second long.
Why a part can start slightly early
When your video's codecs allow, each part is copied without re-encoding, which is fast and loses nothing. MP4-compatible codecs (H.264 or HEVC, with AAC or MP3 sound) give MP4 parts, and WebM codecs (VP8, VP9 or AV1, with Opus or Vorbis sound) give WebM parts.
A copied part has to start at a keyframe, a complete picture, so it begins at the keyframe at or before its cut. In an MP4 part, the frames before the cut are hidden with an edit list, and the cut falls where the frame on screen at that time begins, so in Chrome a part starts on that frame, up to one frame before the cut, with its sound cut at the same moment; in some players a part can still start before its cut by as much as the gap between two keyframes. A WebM part cannot hide them, so it visibly starts at that keyframe. A part can also run a fraction of a second past its end.
Videos in other codecs are re-encoded to H.264 and AAC in MP4, or to VP9 and Opus in WebM when your browser cannot make MP4, provided your browser can decode them, and then every cut lands on the exact frame. For a frame-exact single cut from a copyable file, the trimmer's Precise mode re-encodes just that part.
Downloading the parts
Each part is listed with its start and end time, a preview and its own download button, and Download all (ZIP) saves every part in one archive. The list previews the first 12 parts; any more are in the ZIP. The downloaded files are numbered in order, with matching names inside the ZIP.
A ZIP cannot be made once the parts add up to more than 4 GB. The tool then lists every part so you can download them one at a time.

Deciding where the cuts go?
Anjin Media proposes an edit as ordered segments with source timecodes, so you can review every cut before anything renders.
Questions about the video splitter
- How many parts can I split a video into?
- Up to 20, either at times you type or as 2 to 20 equal parts. Each part must be at least a tenth of a second long.
- Does splitting a video lose quality?
- Not when the video's codecs can be copied into MP4 or WebM: each part is copied without re-encoding. Other videos, provided your browser can decode them, are re-encoded, which costs a small amount of quality but makes every cut exact.
- Why does a part start a little before the time I entered?
- A copied part starts on the frame that is on screen at your cut, which can be up to one frame before it. It also has to begin at a keyframe, so the file starts at the keyframe at or before your cut: MP4 parts hide the extra frames with an edit list that Chrome respects but some players ignore; WebM parts show them.
- Is my video uploaded?
- No. The split runs in your browser; your video, and every part, never leave your device.
