How to review AI-generated video without losing editorial control
An eight-part review framework for checking fidelity, coverage, context, representation, provenance and production quality before an AI-generated cut is approved.
An AI-generated cut can be factually verbatim and still be editorially wrong.
A sentence may be lifted accurately while its qualification is removed. Two true statements can become misleading when placed together. A clean ending can imply certainty the speaker never expressed. Review therefore has to test meaning and sequence, not only transcription.

Review the plan before the pixels
Start with selected transcript text, order, source identity and timecodes. At this stage, removing repetition or restoring context is fast. Once the piece is rendered, typography and motion make weak editorial decisions feel more finished than they are.

Use the eight-part editorial check
- Fidelity: does each segment mean what it meant in context?
- Coverage: does the sequence answer the complete brief?
- Progression: does every segment add rather than repeat?
- Qualification: have limits, uncertainty and conditions survived?
- Representation: are speakers and competing views treated fairly?
- Provenance: can every selection be verified at source?
- Production: are captions, crop, audio and branding correct?
- Approval: has the accountable person accepted the claim and context?

Red-team the joins
Most risk sits between segments. Ask what the cut implies because one statement follows another. Check whether time has been collapsed, whether examples have become general claims and whether a response appears to answer a different question.

Set approval according to consequence
A low-stakes social excerpt and a regulated customer claim should not share one approval path. Increase review depth when the cut covers legal, medical, financial, employment or reputationally sensitive material; when speakers are vulnerable; or when the edit will be used as evidence.
