Start from a completed output#
Open an edit in the app and find its completed output. Choose Add thumbnail to prepare a cover from that output’s source material. If more than one brand kit is available, choose the kit to use. Review the prepared source image and caption before publishing the cover.
The thumbnail stays connected to that output. You can return to the video from the editor without losing your saved draft.
Reuse a brand style#
Open Brand kit and choose its thumbnail style to set reusable colours, text presentation, logo and layouts. This is a style preview; it is not a thumbnail prepared from one of your videos.
Saved style changes become defaults for future thumbnails. Existing thumbnails retain the style they were created with and can be edited individually.
Refine each format#
Use the format controls to switch between 16:9, 1:1 and 9:16. Select an image, text, logo or shape directly on the canvas or from the layer menu. Drag it into place and use the handles to resize it. Text edge handles adjust its box; corner handles scale the text.
Shapes, layer order, opacity and text styling let you refine the composition. Choose None for the text-box colour when you want a transparent box. Undo and redo help compare changes. Check every format: each has its own layout.
Let your draft finish saving#
Valid edits autosave as a complete draft, including all three format layouts. The save status shows whether your latest changes are saved. Switching formats does not discard the other layouts.
If your connection drops, the editor keeps recoverable changes on the current device and explains when it cannot save. Reopen the same thumbnail with the same user and account to recover. Keep the tab open until it reports Saved when possible; clearing browser storage can remove unsaved recovery data.
If another tab or person has saved overlapping changes, review the conflict before continuing. A draft save does not replace the cover currently used by the output.
Approve the cover, then download#
Review the source image, its cutout and the composition in all three formats. Use Approve & use when the saved revision is ready. Approval selects the cover shown with the output.
For the current approved revision, choose PNG or JPEG for the selected format, or All formats for a ZIP containing the three PNG layouts. If you make further edits, the previously approved cover stays in use until you approve the new revision.
Editing and approval require the appropriate workspace permission. Exports remain private to authorised users; creating a thumbnail does not publish it to a social platform.
